Channeling the lineage of spiritual jazz, taking inspiration from Pharoah Sanders, Alice Coltrane and Idris Mohammad, the band fuse their jazz influences with West African and Afro-beat rhythms, courtesy of bandleader Jake Long (2016 Yamaha Jazz Scholar) and percussionist Tim Doyle. Twm Dylan keeps the groove alive on double bass, Shirley Tetteh kills it on rhythm and lead guitar, Amané Suganami brings the heat on keys and Nubya Garcia delivers sax hooks that replay in your head for days.
The 6-piece are currently recording their debut album with notable labels already interested and support from key players such as Worldwide FM. They have become leaders in the live circuit with such a high calibre musicians their energetic spiritual live shows are not to be missed.

Maisha (meaning 'Life') is a London based Ensemble lead by drummer Jake Long (2016 Yamaha Jazz Scholar). The group play original music inspired by artists such as Alice Coltrane, Pharoah Sanders and Idris Mohammad, fused with heavily rhythmic West African and Afro Beat Grooves.

The EP, which was recorded live at South London arts event Good Evening/Royal Albert, has a rhythmic spiritual energy that radiates out of every beat and note played.
