Margot Antignac

Margot is a remarkable artist with a diverse cultural background and a deep connection to music. Born to a German mother and a French father but raised in the UK, she effortlessly speaks all three languages, but considers music her first. Having started out as a classical singer, she transitioned towards jazz as she was scouted by Sam Shaker, a figure known for giving Amy Winehouse one of her first platforms to perform on, during a chance encounter in a Soho Jazz Club. This marked her first significant entry into the artistic sector. Swiftly, Margot's talent drew attention, leading to invitations for gigs at various prestigious venues. She assembled her band ‘The Swing of Delight’, initially focusing on cover songs. Within a year, Margot and her band achieved milestones like a sold-out show at The Pheasantry Club Pizza Express, a standout performance at the Rye Winter Jazz Festival, and a slot on BBC London’s Jo Goode Show. Starting to establish herself and her band on the London jazz scene, they have now set their sights on creating original music. In parallel, she has been composing music for her own debut album which is to be released later this year! The album touches on her understanding of identity in a multicultural universe and her relationship to music whilst she was growing up. Margot is absolutely thrilled to be playing with her band at The Pheasantry Club. She hopes that the audience will be left with a feeling of freedom, which she aims to evoke across her performance.
