'The Art Of Romantic Song'

Event Has Passed

Last Show: Monday 20 th May 2019

PizzaExpress Jazz Club (Soho)

A celebration of settings of vintage classic popular song inspired by the recordings of Frank Sinatra and the Hollywood Quartet. Top drawer musicianship meets sparkling arrangements of some of the most beautiful songs of the mid 20th Century. Matt Ford is a renowned big band singer working regularly with the John Wilson Orchestra, and other top UK and European orchestras, as well as swinging with the likes of the BBC Big Band, Clare Teal, Syd Lawrence Orchestra, etc. This project is a labour of love for the band leader and drummer Matt Skelton, as is evident in the way these highly accomplished musicians have been brought together to perform this set with passion and joie de vivre!

"Having been lucky enough to know Sinatra, Nelson Riddle and Eleanor Slatkin (the original cellist of the Hollywood String Quartet), I am certain they would have been as thrilled as I with these loving and fresh restorations of their work. Bravo!"
