‘Flung Out of Space’ is the debut EP of Jazz saxophonist Jessica Bullen who showcases a bold compositional style and unique voice on the soprano saxophone. Inspired by saxophonists such as Kenny Garrett, Bob Mintzer, Michael Brecker and Jan Garbarek, Jessica fuses melodic lyricism with strong modal jazz statements. Jessica’s quintet will be performing a set of her original compositions and will feature; Tom Ollendorff on Guitar, Jacky Naylor on Piano, Pete Komor on Bass and Olly Sarkar on Drums.
Jessica has performed at a variety of prestigious music events across the UK and Europe, including the London Jazz Festival, Cork Jazz Festival, Brecon Jazz Festival and Langau Jazz Nights Festival in Switzerland. She has worked with organisations such as Women in Jazz, and Women in Jazz Media to champion female led projects and has recently completed a Jazz Masters Degree from Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Milena Granci is a pianist of French and Italian descent. She is now based in London having just finished a Master in Jazz Performance from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, graduating with distinction. Her most recent influences are Maria Schneider, John Taylor and Nikki Iles with whom she was lucky enough to study at the Guildhall. It was also during her Masters that she started her own project with some of the like minded musicians she met during the course. Milena’s project steers away from the conventional jazz aesthetic into a realm inspired by her eclectic musical influences. Her compositions feature sensitive, melancholic yet uplifting melodies, whilst exploring a wide range of musical emotions.
