The San Francisco Bay Area in August 1968 was the birthplace of a unique blend of the sounds of Motown, Stax and James Brown soon to become known around the world of music so fittingly as Tower of Power. The band's early hits include ‘You’re Still a Young Man’, ‘So Very Hard To Go’, ‘Soul Vaccination’ and ‘What is Hip?’. The Tower of Power Horns have featured on albums by Ray Charles, Eric Clapton, Elton John, Carlos Santana, Bonnie Raitt, Huey Lewis, Aerosmith, Neil Diamond and 100’s more! From 1968 to this day they continue to record and tour taking their ‘Oakland Style Soul’ or ‘Urban Funk’ across the world playing over 200 dates a year!
Monsters have had the honour of performing/headlining at Swansea Jazz Festival, London Jazz Festival, Guildford Jazz Festival and have held London residencies at the legendary Half Moon Club and The Spice of Life.

Comprised of five of UK’s finest horn players led by Toby Stewart (including rib-rattling baritone sax, essential to the ToP sound), skilled enough to master the eye-watering ToP horn arrangements, a four piece rhythm section featuring one of Britain’s most celebrated bassists Laurence Cottle alongside his longtime collaborator on drums the amazing Mike Bradley providing impeccable big band funk backing - and a powerhouse soul 'n funk singer.
