Bee Bakare is a Nigerian-born British soul singer-songwriter. Her music is recognisable by the deeply rich and warm contralto that features in her sound.
Shortly after her first single 'Little Darling', she released a self-titled debut EP in June 2015 in response to requests from audiences and supporters at performances. Since her successful EP launch event, she has played gigs in and around Bath and West England, where she studied and lived after originally pursuing a very different career path.
Blowing away audiences with that big voice and smile, she is gaining momentum with a wealth of over 200 live performances in 2016 alone, ranging from intimate shows to UK festivals and concert venues. Her songs known for their 'catchy hooks' have also achieved and continue to achieve international radio play. They have also secured finalist positions in UK songwriting contests.
In September 2016, She released the first single from her upcoming 2017 EP, 'Waiting To Happen', popularity that contributed to achieving the No1 spot on the UK R&b/Soul charts on Reverbnation for 12weeks standing.
Singing and writing from a young age, she cites her songwriting in the early years as poems and simply as a way of "working out emotions". Growing up listening to R&b, gospel and female soul singers such as Lauryn Hill, Tracy Chapman and India Arie, she describes these as her main influences, with a fondness for the classics by Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Josh Stone and Adele.
With upbeat, yet vulnerable and heart-felt songs that take you on an emotional journey, Bee Bakare is set to release her next EP early 2017. Her set will include songs from the upcoming EP and many covers you know and love.
