PizzaExpress Live (Maidstone)

2016 promises to be an exciting, celebratory year with a lengthy UK tour planned to support the third and final vinyl 'retrospective' album, with one box to unite them all. He will also be sporting a new live album, 'Hark!' - A recording of songs from his award winning shows at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2003. Son of the legendary UK singer-songwriter Roy Harper, Nick was born in London and raised in Wiltshire. Having played the guitar from the age of 10 and surrounded by the likes of Keith Moon, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and Dave Gilmour as he grew up, it was no surprise when Nick made his recording debut on his father's Whatever Happened to Jugula? in 1985.

"Frank Zappa would have been impressed… he deserves to become a major figure in his own right."

THE GUARDIAN

To call Nick a superlative singer/songwriter could put his highly lauded guitar talent in the shade, and to call him a guitarist's guitarist might slight his distinctive, soulful voice and passionate songs. Not forgetting the wild ride that is one of his live shows - from personal introspection to biting political satire via a charmingly caustic wit that would make Groucho Marx proud. He often segues from his own compositions to well-loved covers he makes his own - he takes on Presley, Zappa, Jeff Buckley, Led Zeppelin, Monty Python and Public Enemy (yes, on an acoustic guitar). He also has the alarming ability to break guitar strings almost by sheer force of will… and then change them without dropping a beat. For over a decade, he has been dazzling audiences and reviewers alike with this heady mix of virtuosity, boyish charm, showmanship and sheer bravado.

Connor Noble is a classically trained acoustic guitarist who has developed his own distinctive, predominantly instrumental style of playing, taking in influences from rock, folk and psychedelia alongside classical guitar, and percussive styles.

Live Connor is a compelling and entertaining performer whose music has a huge dynamic range, from filmic, almost ambient passages to full-on progressive, acoustic rock. Recent shows have seen him playing venues such as The Troubadour in London, The Music Room - Pizza Express and supporting musicians such as Adrian Legg, Declan Zapala , Robert Castellani and Caravan.

From starting to play the guitar at 16 after hearing Jimi Hendrix, Connor’s regular busking outings to Canterbury caught the ear of a music lecturer at Canterbury University and he was given a scholarship to study a Classical Music there, specializing in composition, orchestration and performance.

Alongside Hendrix, Connor’s musical inspirations include Jeff Buckley, Queen, Iron Maiden, Glen Hansard, Damien Rice and Michael Hedges, though his own material transcends the sum of his influences and his first album – due out in Summer 2016 is a confident debut from an emerging artist who has honed his skills on the live circuit.
