"A major voice in British Jazz…Edis is an incredibly fertile composer and improviser"

Jazz Journal

Edis moved to London in 2020 after over 15 years based in the Northeast of England where he established his first sextet and released two albums of original music. In 2012 he released There Will Be Time, and in 2014 he released Mr Hipster and toured both albums at various venues and festivals around the UK. In the intervening years he was involved in various diverse musical projects and recordings away from the sextet, including a duo album with Vasilis Xenopoulos and writing, performing, and recording new music with vocalist Jo Harrop.

Since moving to London, Edis was inspired to write new music for a new line-up, including Freddie Gavita (trumpet/flugel) Vasilis Xenopoulos (tenor and soprano sax) Rory Ingham (trombone) Adam King (double bass) and Joel Barford (drums).

Edis has performed alongside leading jazz names including Jon Faddis, Alan Barnes, Bruce Adams, Nigel Price, Jim Mullen, Tim Garland, Julian Siegel, Tony Kofi, Steve Waterman, Iain Ballamy and Mark Nightingale. His music has been played on the radio in the UK, US and in Europe.
