The Pheasantry (Chelsea)

Paul Ryan, a favourite vocalist of the late Jack Massarik, joins long-term collaborator Kenny Clayton, one of the UK’s leading pianists, arrangers and musical directors, to present a selection from their new CD Blame It On My Youth reflecting their shared love of the Great American Songbook exemplified by Gershwin, Porter, Arlen, Mercer and many more. Their “effortlessly stylish interpretations” (Tribune) are jazz-inflected and infused with wry humour. Jazzwise has praised Ryan for singing “with a knowledge and understanding of the nuances and wit of the great lyricists” while hailing Clayton as “adept and sensitive…a gifted and inventive jazz pianist”. For this show, the duo will be joined by Eric Guy on bass and Mike "Ozzie" Osborn on drums.
