Paul Ryan & Jamie Safir 'Two For The Road'

Event Has Passed

Last Show: Friday 26 th July 2019

The Pheasantry (Chelsea)

Paul Ryan, a favourite vocalist of the late jazz critic Jack Massarik, joins the brilliant young pianist Jamie Safir for an intimate evening of selections from the Great American Songbook - some familiar, others less so.  Paul’s relaxed style evokes the golden age of the great crooners but his rich baritone is very much his own.  His recent album 'Blame It On My Youth' was recorded live at the Pheasantry. Jamie is one of the brightest jazz talents to emerge in recent years and has worked regularly with such major singers as Ian Shaw, Barb Jungr and Elaine Delmar. For this show, Paul and Jamie draw inspiration from the historic collaboration between Tony Bennett and Bill Evans for a very personal collection of jazz-inflected standards.
