Perico Sambeat - recognised as one of the best alto saxophonists in the world today, and one of the most important Jazz musicians to have come out of Europe. His artistic collaborations boast a list of musicians of the very highest caliber including Brad Mehldau, Pat Metheny, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Michael Brecker, and many more. This will be a night of inspiring music, featuring new songs, by a compelling band led by an authentic maestro. Be prepared for surprise guest appearances. Don't miss it.

These concerts launch what promises to be an auspicious partnership between PizzaExpress Jazz Club London, and Jamboree Jazz Club Barcelona.

Sambeat has received numerous awards including the prestigious 'Bird Award' given by the North Sea Jazz Festival to the musician deserving wider recognition (2003), and best recording of the year for 'Flamenco Big Band' (2008 and 2009).
The concert features a selection of songs drawn from Perico’s award winning compositions, along with some old, some new, some borrowed and some definitely blue.

These concerts launch what promises to be an auspicious partnership between PizzaExpress Jazz Club London, and Jamboree Jazz Club Barcelona, two of the leading music venues in Europe, both with a rich history spanning almost five decades of presenting the finest in Jazz. Each club boasts a programme that includes many of the greatest artists in the history of the music.

Over the course of the next twelve months PizzaExpress will present three bands from the UK at the Jamboree in Barcelona, and the Jamboree will present three groups featuring artists from Catalunya and Spain at PizzaExpress Jazz Club London.

The first in the series will feature saxophone star Perico Sambeat's Quartet. Originally from Valencia he was resident in Barcelona for several years at the beginning of his musical journey and, when Joan Mas reopened the Jamboree in 1993, played an important part in establishing the club as Spain's leading Jazz venue through his engagements at the club leading bands with artists like Brad Mehldau, Kurt Rosenwinkle and many more.
