Last Show: Tuesday 8 th November 2022

PizzaExpress Live (Holborn)

Pete sings his favourite songs from his Cream, Jack Bruce and Phil Ryan repertoire. Peter Ronald Brown is an English performance poet, lyricist, and singer best known for his collaborations with Cream and Jack Bruce. Brown formed the bands Pete Brown & His Battered Ornaments and Pete Brown & Piblokto! and worked with Graham Bond and Phil Ryan. Brown also writes film scripts and formed a film production company. Pete has enjoyed recent success writing lyrics for Procol Harum and Joe Bonamassa. He is currently writing new material for his next CD to be released in 2023. An album entitled ‘Cream Acoustic’ and curated by Pete and produced by Rob Cass featuring performances by Ginger Baker, Joe Bonamassa, Pee wee Ellis, BobbyRush, Paul Rodgers and Maggie Bell (to name but a few) will be released on the QVR label in Summer 2022.

“One of the key eccentrics of the Harvest stable and a successful collaborative lyricist for Cream (“I Feel Free”, “Sunshine of Your Love”), Brown was kicking around the scene as a poet until being approached by Cream to assist in songwriting. Upon achieving chart success with the trio, Brown decided to go the musician route.”

Pete writes:

I've been in the music biz now since 1966, as lyricist, singer and producer.

Included in this concert are many musicians I've met along the way, both new and old. They're all people whose talents I love, and have been involved with creatively.

MALCOLM BRUCE is the son of Jack, with whom I wrote for 48 years. I knew him as a baby! Inheriting his father's talents, he is one of the most versatile musicians I know. Like his father, he is also a great composer. We've worked together a lot, including on the Cream Acoustic project, on which he either plays bass, guitar or  piano on every track. He has toured in the US a lot and also worked there as a recording engineer.

CLEM CLEMPSON is another of the great Brit guitarists. Originally in the Bakerloo Blues Band, he Joined Colosseum in 1969 and now still runs a version of it, which I am writing for. He did a notable stint with HUMBLE PIE,

playing US stadiums, and has also had his own band in Germany, which I toured with as guest singer.
