For the second night of Pete Brown’s ‘Selected’ concert series, Pete sings his favourite songs from his Cream, Jack Bruce and Phil Ryan repertoire accompanied by his band, and with support from Hexagonal. Peter Ronald Brown (born 25 December 1940) is an English performance poet, lyricist, and singer best known for his collaborations with Cream and Jack Bruce. Brown formed the bands Pete Brown & His Battered Ornaments and Pete Brown & Piblokto! and worked with Graham Bond and Phil Ryan. Brown also writes film scripts and formed a film production company. Pete has enjoyed recent success writing lyrics for Procol Harum and Joe Bonamassa.

“One of the key eccentrics of the Harvest stable and a successful collaborative lyricist for Cream (“I Feel Free”, “Sunshine of Your Love”), Brown was kicking around the scene as a poet until being approached by Cream to assist in songwriting. Upon achieving chart success with the trio, Brown decided to go the musician route.”

Pete writes:

I've been in the music biz now since 1966, as lyricist, singer and producer.

Included in this event are many musicians I've met along the way, both new and old. They're all people whose talents I love, and have been involved with creatively. The leaders will be supported by many of my favourite players.

Hooked by jazz at the age of 13, for me  it's still a main listening choice, so it had to feature somewhere in these proceedings. HEXAGONAL is a band split between my hometown of Hastings and Brighton. It features  keyboard player John Donaldson, my MD and co-writer in real life, and  the virtuoso sax player Greg Heath, playing African and McCoy Tyner influenced material. They have done BBC broadcasts and played many festivals with growing popularity.
