Event Has Passed

Last Show: Saturday 14 th May 2022

The Pheasantry (Chelsea)

Cafe Django is inspired by the unique spirit of Gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt’s Hot Club de France’s famous music of the 30s/40s, as well as blues, big band and 50s swing favourites. Peter’s early harmonica inspiration was Larry Adler the harmonica virtuoso who recorded 4 tracks with Django and was subsequently proud to be invited to play at the 'Celebration of Larry Adler’s Life’ to a celebrity audience. Cafe Django has played many venues including L’Escargot,The Arts Club-Dover Street, Le Quecumbar, Momo’s, Brassiere Toulouse Lautrec and Gaz’s Rockin’ Blues Soho. Red Hot & Live is the result of a fabulous gig at favourite venue The Chelsea Art Club. The Band  features leading musicians and is one of the world’s few (maybe only) harmonica led gypsy jazz swing bands, especially with its motto "It’s Party Time”! So come on down to the Pheasantry and enjoy a fun and musical evening in the Kings Road Chelsea..!

Peter says “With Cafe Django I have the privilege to play with some of UK’s finest and well known musicians of the style and whilst true to the soul of the music we also love including some blues and sometimes even Ray Charles, Johnny Cash and Hank Williams music with the same fervour and integrity as gypsy jazz.. It’s the feeling and commitment that makes it all ring true..So let’s Swing and Rock and sometimes Dance to Le Django!!”
