Marking his return from the recording of his latest album at Sun Studio in Memphis Tennessee, superstar pianist Robert Wells returns to London and to Pizza Express Live Holborn for one night only, with his trio and a very special guest on vocals, Maria Wells.
Wells is also a prolific composer and one of the greatest entertainers on the international scene today; over 2 million concert ticket sales, many Gold and Platinum records and has a new album “Sun Studio Sessions” just released, with a sound that is the very best of Southern USA.

Robert Wells started with Classical music and is a life-long Chopin lover, but also loves Status Quo, ABBA, AC/DC, all these. His style of performance is an eclectic mix that he calls Rhapsody in Rock, an infusion of musical genres, all cool with urban sophistication, ranging from classical to rock ‘n’ roll and formed up into a spectacular touring show.
Wells “Rhapsody in Rock” tour has been on the road since its small beginnings in 1989, offering big-scale open air Proms-in-the- Park like concerts which now have cult status with regular TV performances and filling the largest venues and sports arenas in Sweden, where Wells has his own touring symphony orchestra.
But the world-renowned pianist is also a prolific composer too – Wells composed the official television theme music for the Beijing Olympics in 2008, and has also collaborated with the likes of Celine Dion.
As part of “Friday Night is Music Night” in January 2016 Wells set a new World Record together with Ken Bruce and the BBC Radio Concert Orchestra – for playing and identifying the most number of ABBA songs in one minute!
The setting of this new record saw one Swedish phenomenon paying homage to another. Robert Wells is now the holder of a new Guinness World Record, a great honour as ABBA is one of Wells all-time favourite bands with their pianist Benny Andersson having inspired greatly the young Robert Wells.
Wells performs with his Trio; on Bass and Vocals, Lars Risberg, on Drums, Roine Johansson and completing the package, a very special guest, Wells lovely and talented wife, Maria, whose sophisticated crystal-clear vocal style is strongly evocative of an altogether more elegant era, that of gaslight, nostalgia and romance.
Robert has just released in the UK a new album “Sun Studio Sessions” (CD and Vinyl), topping the Swedish Jazz charts for many weeks. Tracks from the album will be performed as part of this show.
