“Is it too much to call a debut EP a “masterpiece”? Perhaps, but I’m tempted to do it anyway, so moved am I by Rosina Bullen’s stunning Painting a Picture. At once intimate and cinematic, each song is its own lush universe. From the poetry of a heart laid bare, to the ambitious - but never overpowering - orchestrations, to the glorious voice itself, you are hard pressed to catch your breath in time only to have it taken away again. "Lie Down My Love" takes you on an epic journey rich with wonder, while "Elegy" is remarkable in its sombre restraint. "My First Love" sounds at once centuries old and completely fresh. This EP is an absolute feast for the ears and soul.”
