London based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ryan Marshall returns to PizzaExpress this autumn with his new power trio. Inspired by his father’s record collection, the sounds of Hendrix, Clapton and Santana captured his imagination from an early age. An improviser at heart, guitar remains the focal point of his music. The Ryan Marshall Trio continue the power blues format, where each musician shares centre stage as an equal, journeying through the blues songbook alongside Ryan’s original material, where anything and everything is open to interpretation at each unique performance. As Hype magazine put it: “If you thought you understood what guitar playing was, you need to take a moment to watch and seriously reconsider.”

Ryan is currently writing and recording a new album of original material, combining harmonic and melodic influences from his love of jazz with the raw soul of blues, he creates honest, spirited music.

Completely self-funded, Ryan utilises his background in audio engineering, recording, mixing and producing his own work. Being a dab hand with a camera comes in handy too!

Ryan’s live band is made up of some of London's finest session and touring musicians, players who respond to and push his creative direction in the live moment.
