Kicking off the 2023 London Jazz Festival in full swing is UK singing sensation Emma Smith, accompanied by one of the country's most exciting young big bands - the Sam Every Big Band. Performing a set of music inspired by London, curated especially for the EFG London Jazz Festival, this one night only special will feature music by the legendary Frank Sinatra, Nancy Wilson and Ella Fitzgerald. It's a special night of music that's not to be missed! Come and join us to start the London Jazz Festival with a big band bang! 

Emma Smith's star is on the ascendant. With diverse and extensive experience performing everywhere from the 02 Arena to the leading jazz clubs of New York City, collaborating and recording with the likes of Michael Buble, Robbie Williams, Georgie Fame and Seal along the way, Emma Smith has created a formidable reputation as a powerful and expressive artist in UK jazz. Now with her first new solo album in 10 years, Emma Smith is set to make an indelible mark on the European and international musical landscape, by showcasing a body of work that perfectly demonstrates her prowess as a rising star with one of the very best voices in the business.

The Sam Every Big Band are widely considered one of the most exciting young big bands in the country today. After making their London club debut in 2019, they have gone on to obtain a 100% sell-out record at all of their concerts across the UK. They are regular performers at the Pizza Express Jazz Club in Soho, and in 2022 performed 3 sell-out shows at the world-famous Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London’s Soho. They are a projects-based band, performing a variety of unique sets, entirely compiled of original arrangements for the band, with acclaimed UK singers. So far they have worked with the award-winning Luca Manning, Sara Colman, Natalie Williams, Stefan Mahendra, Freddie Benedict and many more. Also in 2022, they made their festival debut, headlining at the Twinwood Music Festival, in Bedfordshire.
