Carole King to Cole Porter! Beatles to Basie! Expect a wide range of American song book classics with more contemporary numbers given a jazzy twist! Sarah fronts this energetic jazz quintet on Sax, clarinet, flute and vocals with Eddy White on guitar, Nick Cooper on Piano, Pete Maxfield on double bass and Killian Madden on drums. All band members are vastly experienced professional musicians who work with a multitude of other people but take every opportunity of playing together, bonded by a love of melodic, rhythmic jazz and having fun!

Sarah formed her own band ‘Not Just Sax’ in 2001 and has recorded 6 albums. The band focuses on playing melodic, rhythmic jazz, funk and Latin. Later Sarah decided to form a second band ‘Sax in the City’ with a group of like-minded musicians in London, performing regularly at venues including Pizza Express, Toulouse Lautrec, Twickenham and Swing Unlimited Jazz Clubs and the CAA Club.

As well as performing extensively with her own bands, Sarah is a teacher and freelances as a session musician  performing at the Isle of Wight Jazz Festival, Montreux Jazz Festival, Jazz on The Meadow, Newport Jazz Festival, Brighton Fringes, Swanage Jazz Festival, Stompin On The Quomps and a number a jazz clubs and theatres. Sarah has also guested on many albums, including 3 by progressive rock band, Galahad.

Pete Maxfield joined Sarah’s original band on double bass in 2004 and is a highly in demand, unique, freelance double bass player who has played and toured with a multitude of top artists including 7 years on tour with Andy Sheppard and his band Sphere.

Eddy White is a Southampton University graduate who has toured and played all over the world, both on the cruise liners and large stadiums. Eddy has released his debut album Woven Skies with his project, The Eddy White Sextet, featuring some of the top jazz musicians the UK has to offer. His record features all original compositions, of eclectic and diverse stylings.  As of 2022, Eddy has started performing with the esteemed acid-jazz band the James Taylor Quartet.

Nick Cooper trained at the Royal College on piano and oozes energy and enthusiasm as he plays. Nick has  performed at Ronnie Scotts 100 Club and the 606 Club with musicians including Alec Dankworth, Digby Fairweather, Pete Long and Dave Green to name a few.

Killian Madden adds the icing to this quintet on drums.  A rare breed of a drummer who listens and reacts, blending in beautifully. Apart from being much in demand for his drumming skills on tour and in the studio, Killian is a composer and a producer.

Every member is an artist and excellent musician in their own right and when brought together as a group, an exciting and special night is truly created.
