American Jazz Legend Sheila Jordan celebrates her 90th birthday with a special London Jazz Festival show. This is a rare UK show in the voice/bass duo format Jordan originated, here with one of her favourite musical partners, US bass player, Cameron Brown.

Described by Scott Yanow as "one of the most consistently creative of all jazz singers", Sheila Jordan returns to London for a special show on her 90th birthday. It is also a rare UK outing for her favoured duo format of bass and voice. Here she is joined by renowned American bass player, Cameron Brown (George Adams/Don Pullen, Archie Shepp).

Born on November 18th 1928, Jordan is a legendary figure in jazz history - an NEA jazz master and critically acclaimed singer-songwriter. She came up on the Detroit scene in the 1940s as part of a coterie of young players in thrall to the mercurial genius of Charlie Parker (who championed the young singer). Jordan spent years developing a high-wire improvisational approach unlike anyone else on the scene, and made history with her classic 1963 debut Portrait of Sheila, Blue Note’s first album by a vocalist.
