Sofia Grant is a composer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist. With Swedish and English roots, she grew up in London surrounded by music. She trained classically on piano and saxophone from a young age, and began performing as a singer-songwriter aged 14.

She lived in Barcelona for 3 years, honing her craft as a performer and songwriter on the improvised music scene. Back in her hometown of London, she has now amassed seven years' performance experience, working as a session musician for rising stars of the London jazz scene, including Poppy Ajudha, PYJAEN and Donna Thompson.

She founded Higher Ground Jam Session in 2018, with an aim to create a safe space for performers of all types to experiment freely through music. The community was recently featured on Jazz FM's Jazz Voices series and returns to 91 Living Room in Shoreditch in the autumn.

Her debut single 'Storm' released in 2020 received airplay from Jazz FM, Worldwide FM and Soho Radio, earning her a spot on Women in Jazz's AMPLIFY roster.

Sofia's debut EP will be released this year. It is a body of work grounded in jazz-folk, which uses vocal harmony to offer an emotional response to the reality of climate collapse and species extinction.

She plays with a band of close friends and collaborators, who helped to bring her compositions to life in early 2022 at Lightship Studios. As part of the London Jazz Festival, Sofia and her band will bring us a special performance of the songs from the EP, as well as reimaginings of songs that inspired the record.
