Carrie Lucas the First Lady of Solar and Soul Train Records was the first female artist signed to the iconic Soul Train label in 1975 along with the Soul Train Gang, Whispers and Shalamar. Not only was Carrie Lucas an artist, but she was also one of the songwriters and founders of the labels. Carrie Lucas founded Soul Train Records and the Soul Train Club with her husband Dick Griffey and Soul Train TV Host Don Cornelius. Soul Train Records later became part of the biggest soul funk label of the 70’s and 80’s….Solar Records. Solar Records was also known as The Sound of Los Angeles the home of Shalamar, The Whispers, Midnight Star, Dynasty, Lakeside, Klymaxx and The Deele.
