Tal possesses a highly expressive, lyrical and harmonious musical style that expresses a range of feelings and emotions from longing and compassion to cheerful playfulness. Some of Tal’s main inspirations include artists such as Charlie Haden, Antonio Carlos Jobim, bassist Avishai Cohen and Chet Baker. Tal’s debut album 'Dania' featuring trumpeter Avishai Cohen was released in July of 2017. In December 2017, Tal’s trio recorded a new CD named “Change of Heart” together with Saxophonist Dayna Stephens.
Tal grew up on a farm in the Judean Hills near Jerusalem. On his father’s side, the family immigrated to Israel from Kurdistan, bringing with them the music and tribal dances of the region; his mother’s family fled from Nazi Germany in 1936. This background exposed Tal to the world of classical music and European culture.
From a very early age it was clear to Tal that music could bring people together by its power to evoke universal feelings, leading him to pursue a career in music.
Since completing his Master’s degree at the New England Conservatory in Boston in 2008, Tal has shared the stage with some of the world’s leading jazz musicians, such as Danilo Perez, Jerry Bergonzy, Joanne Brackeen, Liz Wright and many other outstanding performers.
Tal is a DownBeat Award winner for Outstanding Performance.
