The Academy Jazz Orchestra is pleased to welcome US composer and trumpeter John Daversa, a multiple Grammy winning artist who will be leading his own large ensemble music in the UK for the first time. This exclusive EFG London Jazz Festival performance will present music from John’s 2019 album, American Dreamers: Voices of Hope, Music of Freedom, a big band album that featured young DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) artists who had entered America as children.

It went on to win three Grammy awards for Best Large Jazz Ensemble, Best Arrangement Instrumental, and Best Improvised Solo, and has been described as "one of, if not the most, important musical statements across several genres this year aimed at bringing unity and healing divisiveness".
