The Barimar Quartet was formed to celebrate the music of world-renowned Italian accordionist Barimar (Mario Barigazzi). Accordionist Iuri Vallara, student of Barimar plays with violinist Marina Mammarella, bassist Agide Bandini and percussionist Domenico Fontana, all musicians of the Gulli Ensemble from the Italian city of Parma. Starting from an already existing program dedicated to Argentine tango and Astor Piazzolla, the idea was born to realize a tribute to the wonderful music of the great accordionist Barimar. 

Barimar was a famous bandleader in the 40s, 50,s and 60s and as well has having sold records all over the world made frequent appearances on TV and Radio throughout his varied career.  Barimar, now in his 90s but with the energy of a man half his age continues to compose to this day and arranges music specifically for the quartet that is dedicated to his name.  All the new compositions are inspired by great Argentine music and by music from the golden age of the dance music that in the 40s, 50s and 60s which made Maestro Barigazzi famous all over the world. The music of Maestro Barimar blends different styles but can also be defined as "new" music. The quartet performs all over Italy and has also played in Switzerland and France. etc. and has recently released a DVD and is about to record a new CD. Their program includes by pieces by the great Astor Piazzolla and other Argentine composers linked to the same period of history that was full of creative energy and great compositional quality. Barimar, born in 1925, Mario Barigazzi belongs to that group of accordionists who represent the golden age of dance halls and Italian popular music. A golden age in which the orchestras, of all sizes, from the light orchestras to the humble quartet and included the great names of Gigi Stok, Nando Monica, Gorni Kramer, Wolmer Beltrami, Edoardo Lucchina, Iller Pattacini , to cite but a few.
