The Clara Green Quartet

Sold Out

The Pheasantry (Chelsea)

London based jazz vocalist and composer Clara Green draws on the rich folk song tradition of her native Sweden to create the fabric of this eclectic project. With Clara’s original compositions forming the foundation for the repertoire, innovative arrangements of Swedish folk songs and jazz standards serve to finish the structure of a wholesome yet fresh soundscape. There is a strong presence of the legacy of Swedish jazz vocalist Monica Zetterlund’s collaboration with pianist Bill Evans. The discovery of a mutual appreciation for this duo’s classic 1964 album ‘Waltz For Debby’ was in fact what first brought the band members together back in 2016 - alongside Swedish drinking songs and pickled herring.

The Clara Green quartet is formed of acclaimed musicians who all have their unique voices and presences on the UK jazz scene, as well as internationally – Bruno Heinen on piano, Andrea di Biase on double bass and Riccardo Chiaberta on drums. The music is specifically written and arranged for these musicians, and the group are looking forward to sharing fresh material from their recently recorded debut album ‘Being Green’ with the Pheasantry audience!
