Whilst the most in demand accompanist for singers and instrumentalists alike, and the band member most often selected to appear with jazz greats, David is also his own soloist and trio creative master.
He played a Solo Piano concert in the 2008 EFG London Jazz Festival at St James Studio and most recently to great applause in London’s Jazz Piano Solo Series at Piano Smithfield. He has celebrated over 40 years playing duo with the saxophone record breaking award winner Alan Barnes, and played in the 2021 London Jazz Festival with another top award winner Derek Nash and his Acoustic Quartet.
He is not only able to swing with a hard driving left hand but also perform delightful heartfelt ballads vowing the most romantic feelings.
His solo recordings of “Tea for Two”, “Sweet Lorraine”, “They Can't Take That Away From Me”, “Have You Met Miss Jones” & “Stompin’ At The Savoy”, among many others, are already collectors items.
David is Principal Lecturer in jazz piano at Leeds College of Music.
Joining David are two outstanding and in demand jazz greats. On double bass, the British Jazz Awards nominee, writer, arranger and regular recording artist, Andy Cleyndert and on drums by Matt Home, of whom John Fordham in the Guardian observed “…he combines the creativity of Max Roach with the wide open swing of Art Blakey”
