Helen Arney and Steve Mouldare two thirds of the science comedy phenomenon Festival of the Spoken Nerd. Their take on ‘Science-y Stuff Staring You in the Face’, just published in book form asThe Element in the Room, will take you on a rib-tickling, experiment-fuelled adventure to explain everyday science that is staring you in the face. If you are sci-curious, π-curious or just the-end-is-nigh-curious you will love this evening. As a trio ‘The Spoken nerds’ have appeared on QI, created their own experimental comedy show ‘Domestic Science’ for Radio 4, toured their stand-up science shows to over 50,000 nerds (and non-nerds) and accumulated millions of views on YouTube.

Festival of the Spoken Nerd is the UK science comedy phenomenon that will feed your brain, tickle your ribs and light your Bunsen burner. Not just live performers, they also make radio shows, TV appearances, DVDs, downloads, YouTube videos and books. Full Frontal Nerdity guaranteed!

In their live shows, the trio of experiments maestro Steve Mould, geek songstress Helen Arney and stand-up mathematician Matt Parker mix astonishing science with statistically significant comedy, plus experiments that electrify their audiences – sometimes literally.

As well as sell-out shows all over the UK, the Nerds have played Las Vegas and New York, Hammersmith Apollo with Robin Ince and Professor Brian Cox, Shakespeare’s Globe and The British Library.

They’re currently performing across the UK with new show “You Can’t Polish A Nerd”, releasing a DVD and download of their latest tour “Just For Graphs” and writing a second series of their hit Radio 4 show “Domestic Science”. Their first book “The Element In The Room", written by science duo Steve and Helen, is out now published by Cassell.
