We are delighted to present a very special lunch time performance dedicated to some of the brightest rising musical stars hosted by Trudy Kerr one of the UK’s most successful and talented jazz vocalists. Also a highly respected educator, holding posts at Trinity Laban, Chichester University, London Centre of Contemporary Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. “I am delighted to put together a programme introducing three up and coming exceptionally talented vocalists on the London Jazz scene” Trudy says. The concert will feature some of the exceptionally gifted musicians on the London jazz scene , and who are  now embarking  on their own professional careers and journeys as artists. Expect to hear highly accomplished music, often with a new and original twist. Come and enjoy the next wave of highly talented artists!

 

Ellie Bignall is in the 4th year of her degree at Trinity Laban.  She has been trained in and influenced by many genres including jazz, soul, gospel, and classical. Her style of singing is very reminiscent of the forties and fifties; often likened to singers such as Anita O’Day, Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan.  Ellie combines a love of the Great American Songbook with an interest in contemporary jazz. Once described as a ‘teenage singing sensation’, she has already performed at various top London venues including  the Palace of Westminster, Small’s Jazz Club, New York  and the Vortex.

 

Anita Scott has for many years had a successful career in public relations but her real love is jazz singing.  Under the tutelage of songstress Anita Wardell, Scott is beginning to realise her dream with her debut CD due for release in 2016.   Scott is influenced by many of the great jazz singers.  Her interpretation of standards and popular songs is honest and heartfelt and her voice is fluid and dreamy.  

 

Josie Charlwood is a pianist, singer and songwriter. After finding significant internet success with her loopstation work, particularly a viral cover of Gorrillaz’ “Feel Good Inc”, Charlwood sustained a  career as a YouTuber whilst studying her Bachelor’s degree at the London Centre of Contemporary Music. Her recent original work showcases her interest in jazz in a way previously unseen on her profiles; her most recent EP “Look Up” (2016) is a dreamy hybrid of jazz, pop and soul, combining traditional jazz instruments with vocal electronics and effects.
