Keyboard/vocalist and award-winning songwriter Kate Ockenden, and her husband, versatile 6-string bassist Geoff Ockenden, have a proven track record of entertaining audiences together with many different artists including The Real Thing, Chaka Khan, Womack & Womack and The Average White Band.

“Live in club or bar this band would surely be a knockout, the evening over before you knew it.”

Jazz Journal, February 2017

In 2014, they began writing original high-energy material in a jazz-funk style, inspired heavily by the music of Swedish jazz-fusion band Dirty Loops. The third song penned in this style, ‘A Rainbow’, received high praise from Grammy-Award winning blue-eyed soul artist Michael McDonald, whilst other songs from The KoGo Project’s debut album, ‘Do It’, have earned similar positive comments from Michael’s guitarist Bernie Chiaravalle, all members of Shakatak, Average White Band’s saxophonist Freddy V, Kenny G’s bassist Vail Johnson, and Jonah Nilsson of Dirty Loops. They have also caught the ear of Chris Phillips at Jazz FM, who invited The KoGo Project to perform a live session in the summer of 2017.
TKP were also invited to perform on the Gaby Roslin show on BBC Radio 2.

Kate and Geoff are current media composers and radio producers for Childrens’ BBC (CBeebies, CBBC) part-time music lecturers for the University of Worcester, regular contributors to established music journal Sound on Sound, and parents to 2 young children. Their high-energy approach to life carries through to the stage, where they promise to deliver a fun performance full of tight funky grooves and excellent musicianship.
