We are developing a growing reputation for wonderful Big Band Music on Sunday Lunch Times at Dean Street. And this concert is no exception as we welcome for their Dean Street debut the fabulous Mike Gorman Big Band. Mike, who has written or arranged all the music for this Big Band, is an accomplished jazz writer, arranger, piano and Hammond organ musician. The band will be playing original music and arrangements of standards influenced by the work of Gil Evans, Thad Jones, Duke Ellington and Bill Holman, featuring all- star musicians. Among the all star jazz musicians in the Mike Gorman Big Band are on saxophones Paul Booth, Paul Jones & Simon Currie, on trumpets Martin Shaw, Freddie Gavita & Tom Walsh, on trombone Calum Au and Oli Hayhurst on bass.

Mike has worked/toured with many leading international artists including Marlena Shaw, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Jimmy Witherspoon, Georgie Fame, China Moses, Scott Hamilton, Clare Teal, Claire Martin, Stacey Kent and Charles McPherson among others.

He has also worked with many of the UK’s leading luminaries in the jazz field including Don Weller, Guy Barker, Anita Wardell,  Alan Skidmore and Art Themen and is a regular member of The Peter King Quartet and The Jim Mullen Organ Trio.

In the popular and commercial music field, Mike has worked with many renowned artists including Boy George and Culture Club, Kid Creole and the Coconuts, Madeleine Bell, Rebecca Ferguson.
