PizzaExpress Jazz Club (Soho)

This duo project, The Wordsmith, is the result of a 35 year friendship. They have worked together since the 80’s in many different projects such as David Linx’s: A Lover’s Question with the writer James Baldwin reciting his poetry accompanied by a.o. Steve Coleman, Bob Stewart, Deborah Brown, Slide Hampton, Toots Thielemans. Or with Aka Moon projects with Oumou Sangaré, Me’shell N’degeocello, etc… Both have recorded with many outstanding artists such as Gonzalo Rubalcaba, The Brussels Jazz Orchestra.

David Linx won countless awards since decades and recently sang in duo with Gregory Porter during the televised Victoires du Jazz (French Grammys) where he won the award : Voice of the Year. Since the 80’s he’s one’s of the few male European jazz singers around and has recorded over 20 cd’s under his name. Michel Hatzigeorgiou is a groundbreaking bassist with a unique style andhas worked with Jaco Pastorius, Toots Thielemans and many others. The idea for this duo was born in the ‘90’s but only recently saw the light of day and the result is like a breath of fresh air.
