The Pheasantry (Chelsea)

In this autobiographical show of songs, sketches and extracts from leading roles, Thelma Ruby, now aged 93, describes her varied and exciting life in the theatre, including her experience in ENSA, repertory, pantomime, revue and musicals. She has appeared as Golde opposite Topol in ‘Fiddler on the Roof’; Mistress Quickly to the Falstaff of Orson Welles in ‘Chimes at Midnight’; and with Dame Judi Dench in ‘Cabaret’. More recently, Thelma appeared as Alice in Jack Dee’s new ITV sitcom ‘Bad Move’, with a second series to be broadcast later this year.

"Thelma Ruby is an actress who has given her whole life to the theatre. [Her] comic timing is second to none... I was bowled over by her."

Daily Mail

“If the Cambridge University Press dictionary defines a ‘game old bird’ as ‘an older woman who is energetic and willing to do risky things’, then Thelma Ruby is the living embodiment of one. Ruby’s show is a living testament to a considerable off-stage achievement – a life well lived.”

Mark Shenton, The Stage

“Ruby’s comic timing is a delight – she lights the place up.”

Clive Davis, The Times
