The jazz club has taken delivery of its brand new house double bass and to celebrate we host an evening featuring some of the UK’s greatest exponents of the instrument, from the 90-year old legend, Peter Ind, who worked in USA in the 1950s with Billie Holiday and Lennie Tristano, to the 2016 Musicians’ Company’s Young Jazz Musician Award winner, Daniel Casimir.

In keeping with the PizzaExpress Jazz Club’s high spec Meyer sound system, Steinway grand piano and Canopus house drum kit, we have sourced a top quality Hungarian double bass from the Bass Place. Laurence Dixon's Bass Place has been serving the bass community of London and beyond for almost twenty years. It is the workshop of choice for Trinity College, The Royal Academy of Music, the Royal College of Music, Guildhall, The South Bank Symphonia and many more Orchestras, and has provided instruments for countless professional players across the world. It is a one-stop-shop and hub, providing all repairs, restorations, and sales of new instruments and accessories.
