She is the first winner of the Betty and Peter/Big Talk writing prize, where she has been gifted a chunk of money to help her write a sitcom with a production company. She was chosen by unanimous decision from over 600 entrants. Acclaimed stand-up comic and TV writer Meryl O'Rourke –revels in her bitterness. She has delighted comedy audiences, written some of the best gags on telly and even hosted pop concerts (last one to 12,000 people!). She supported Frankie Boyle during his 2016 tour. She supported him in 2014, 12, 11 and 2010 at the Hammersmith Apollo. In his book Work!Consume!Die! he calls Meryl "Inspiringly funny". She is often heard as reviewer on BBC Radio 4’s Front Row – specialising in comedy and feminism. Meryl has written a pilot sitcom about post-natal depression, for the head of Radio 4 comedy. This has been script edited by Frankie. A highly praised gag writer, a stolen joke of hers went viral on Facebook, reaching at least 100,000 likes and 15 million views (at last count!). “Has an authentic, compelling, original voice” - Denise Hicks, founder LOCO comedy festival

“Best and most original pages I’ve read in years. I’m a massive fan” - Dhiraj Mahey, producer and founder of BettyAndPeter prize.

Tiernan Douieb
Tiernan’s done the comedy thing for ages and ages now. Since his early days treading the boards, his comedy has taken on a more satirical edge opting to complain about worldly political happenings in the friendliest and funniest manner possible. This is balanced by his stand-up for children and families which is mostly about bogies and superheroes. Tiernan regularly performs all over the world even though he really likes being at home. He is constantly on Twitter, co-runs the successful Comedy Club 4 Kids and has performed and written several solo shows which have all done alright really.
