PizzaExpress Jazz Club (Soho)

Composer and guitarist Vitor Pereira presents his latest work with two cutting-edge jazz bands. Vitor Pereira Quintet 'Jung', with music entirely inspired by the work of psychologist Carl Jung, they will take you on a journey. A diverse journey through dark dreams and “heroic” themes where ambiguous improvised textures often develop into a full blast of luminous melodies. These are some of the best and most exciting musicians in the UK playing creative, adventurous and sophisticated music that will keep you glued to your seat until the very last note. Electric Chamber, they are a chamber jazz band who’s music unveils a myriad of different influences from contemporary classical music to vigorous head-banging riffs. Strong and iconic melodies merge their way through mesmerising atmospheres into wild cello and sax solos or a structured contrapuntal passage. Their music is intriguing, contemporary and cinematic.

“Pereira’s writing is sophisticated and often complex yet always melodic and accessible”

Ian Mann, The JazzMann

Vitor Pereira was born in Porto/Portugal where he studied classical music and started developing an interest for jazz.

He participated in several jazz seminars and private lessons in Europe with musicians such as Pat Metheny, Jonathan Kreisberg, Gilad Hekselman or Aaron Goldberg and in 2004 moved to London to study jazz performance at Middlesex University.

Since then, living in London he’s been an active name in the local and European jazz scenes performing with Asaf Sirkis, Marc Demuth, Binker Golding, Andre Canniere, etc…

With his quintet he published three albums of original music. Doors in 2012, New World in 2016 and Somewhere in the middle in 2018.

His music received praise and positive attention by the press, radio and jazz media and counts memorable performances in venues and festivals all around Portugal and the UK.

Recently inspired by a global pandemic he turned his interest to film music. Has already scored a number of short indie films and his work for film will certainly see a big increase in the near future.
