What Would Julie Do? Live

Event Has Passed

Last Show: Sunday 17 th September 2017

The Pheasantry (Chelsea)

‘What Would Julie Do?’ blogger, Rosie Williamson returns to the Pheasantry for another evening of musical theatre therapy. Olivier nominated actress, Joanne McGuinness from the original cast of Our Ladies of Perpetual Succour joins Rosie and emerging musical theatre artists to perform much loved show tunes, new musical theatre numbers and modern twists on Julie Andrews’ classics. They will share ideas about how to solve problems (like Maria), find the fun (until even the dullest job is a game), and tell you about a few of their favourite things. The theme for September’s show is care and self care. There will be a retiring collection for Carers UK and any profit from the show will be donated to the charity.

Singer and Actress, Rosie Williamson has long been compared to Mary Poppins, but outward appearances can be deceiving: She is, like most of us, far from practically perfect in every way. Rosie often takes hypothetical advice from the guru of musical theatre perfection, the superstar, the legend that is…Dame Julie Andrews. Whenever she is in a stew, she asks: “What Would Julie Do?”

Rosie founded her blog “What Would Julie Do? A Practically Perfect Guide to Living” in 2016; combining her passions of musical theatre, self-help and good humour, she shares her musings on living a happier, healthier life; inspired by Julie and other favourite things.

Join Rosie and friends for “What Would Julie Do? Live”, an evening of song, performed by rising and current musical theatre stars. They share stories and explain how show tunes can help make sense of our crazy lives. It promises to be a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious evening of musical theatre treats.

Joanne McGuinness is currently appearing as Axi in The Divide at King’s Theatre Edinburgh/The Old Vic. Earlier this year, she was nominated for the Olivier award for Best Supporting Actress as part of the ensemble of Our Ladies of Perpetual Succour at the National Theatre. Other theatre credits include: Susie in Dragon (National Theatre of Scotland), Glasgow Girls (National Theatre of Scotland/Theatre Royal Stratford East), Wendy in Peter Pan (King’s, Glasgow) and Elegies for Angels, Punks and Raging Queens.

Joanne was a full time carer for her partner, who lived with cancer for almost 2 years before his passing in May 2015. She has shared some of her experiences of being a carer in a series of YouTube videos, in the hope that it may be useful for anybody in a similar situation.

“What Would Julie Do? Live” aims to entertain as well as raise awareness about the importance of good mental health and wellbeing. At this event there will be a retiring collection for Carers UK and profits from the show will be donated to this charity.
