Bassist Daniel Casimir’s success in the 2016 annual Musicians' Company Young Jazz Musician Award revealed one of the most promising jazz artists of his generation. His 'winner's gig' features Daniel with four outstanding collaborators – pianist Joe Armon-Jones, drummer Sam Gardner, guitarist Shirley Tetteh, with Tess Hirst on vocals – playing modern classics and original compositions.

Daniel Casimir
Daniel decided to further his skills as an improviser and composer by completing a Masters at Trinity Laban Conservatoire, supported by scholarships from the Savile Club and Help Musicians. Whilst at Trinity Laban Conservatoire he participated in public Conservatoire events at Ronnie's Scott and at the Southbank Centre as part of the London Jazz festival.

Since finishing the formal aspect of his musical training, Daniel has had the opportunity to perform with the following artists; Julian Joseph, Jason Rebello, Benet Mclean, Lonnie Liston Smith, Nathan Facey, Shane Forbes, Chihiro Yamanaka, Ashley Henry and David Lyttle. Daniel also performs regularly and has recorded with the Clark Tracey Quintet (Meantime, Jubilation), Tom Harrison (Unfolding in Tempo), Jasmine Power (Stories and Rhymes) and Camilla George (Isang). Daniel will record with an Art Blakey Jazz messenger Saxophonist Jean Toussaint in 2017.

Daniel is the winner of The Musicians’ Company’s Young Jazz Musician Award 2016. He is preparing for his first release as a bandleader under the Jazz Re:freshed label

Shirley Tetteh
Guitarist Shirley Tetteh began her journey into jazz with Tomorrow’s Warriors. In demand as a player, she currently features in Jazz Jamaica, Groundation, female collective Nérija (Jazz FM Awards nominee for Breakthrough Act of the Year), Maisha, Huw Marc Bennett Quintet and many more.

Sam Gardner
Sam Gardner is a UK based drummer, composer and producer who is influenced by many different styles of music, including Jazz, Latin, Indian Classical, Hiphop and EDM.

Joe Armon-Jones
Joe Armon-Jones began playing piano at the age of 7, he undertook a classical training but soon turned towards jazz/soul. He attended the Royal Academy junior course from 2010 to 2011 and studied Jazz at Trinity Laban College of Music and Dance. As well as being a member of Ezra Collective and SumoChief he plays/has played for Pharoahe Monch, Anderson Paak, Little Simz, NoName, Trim, Zara Mcfarlane (MOBO winner 2014), Eska, Dayme Arocena, Jimetta Rose, Ed Motta, Denys Baptiste, Kevin Haynes grupo elegua, TY and several other outfits.

Tess Hirst
Tess Hirst's refined song writing is showcased by her debut album Love's Sunday .
