Brighton-based four-piece Yakul are rapidly heading towards the forefront of the UK's thriving jazz and soul scene. Inspired by forward-thinking bands and artists such as D’Angelo, Hiatus Kaiyote, J Dilla, and Common, the group will showcase the intoxicating blend of styles they describe as “Future Soul” on forthcoming album Yakul At PizzaExpress Live In London, which is released on PX Records on December 8th 2023. Featuring a special guest appearance from MOBO-nominated saxophonist Camilla George, the twelve-track album features a rich texture of sounds and includes a selection of original compositions and covers including an assured version of Steve Lacy’s Dark Red.
ListenAs a long-standing member of multi-million-selling soul-funk outfit Jamiroquai, the UK keyboardist, producer and composer Matt Johnson has made a name for himself as one of the leading instrumentalists on the international scene, regularly performing to huge crowds on some of the world’s most prestigious stages. Also, a much-revered solo artist, Johnson released his debut solo album With The Music in 2020. Now, for the first time ever, Johnson has released a live album on the PX Records label on October 27th 2023. Featuring a selection of original compositions alongside compelling covers of tracks by Johnson’s musical heroes including Lonnie Liston Smith and Roy Ayers, the 7-track album was recorded at PizzaExpress Jazz Club in Soho in November 2022 and is the sixth release on PX Records label.
