This is an outstanding showcase for the best of the current young British based jazz musicians, one of whom will be awarded the Musicians’ Company Young Jazz Musician Award, in memory of the acclaimed first winner of the competition, Tina May and chosen by the voting audience present at the gig. The Winner receives the Company’s coveted medal, £1,000 prize and the opportunity for the band of his/her choice to perform as part of the Company’s jazz programme. From over 50 nominations, from many of the UK’s leading jazz musicians, the Company’s Jazz Committee selected six of the most outstanding young artists.
