The prize, given by The Musicians’ Company, is awarded annually to an exceptionally talented young British-based jazz musician, chosen by the voting audience present at the gig, which is held annually at PizzaExpress Jazz Club, Soho. The Winner receives the Company’s coveted medal, a prize of £1,000 and the opportunity for the band of his/her choice to perform as part of the Company’s jazz programme.

For the first time since 2013 when the competition was won by Emma Smith, the competition will be for a jazz singer. From many of the UK’s leading jazz musicians the Company’s Jazz Committee selected five of the most outstanding young artists:

Ellie Bignall, Sahra Gure, Luca Manning, Liselotte Ostblom and Jessica Radcliffe

They will be accompanied by a wonderful band led by past winner Tim Garland and featuring other Musicians’ Company Young Jazz Musician Winners in Shaney Forbes and Adam King, joined by John Turville.
