Brigitte Beraha, John Turville & Bobby Wellins: 'Red Skies' Album Launch
Show Time 8:00pm / Doors Open 6:30pm
This collaboration between two of the most creative jazz musicians to emerge from the UK scene in the last ten years and one of the true legends of British jazz, famous for his collaboration with Stan Tracey on the most successful UK jazz album of all time, ‘Under Milk Wood’, has resulted in a new album and an ensemble that is lush, spontaneous and rich in emotion. They play an eclectic choice of material ranging from well-known jazz standards and latin gems to contemporary songs. The concert tonight (only London date!) celebrates the release of their new album 'Red Skies'.
"Brigitte should already be up there with the stars. She has a tremendous future to explore, one which we’ll be watching with great expectations” – Dame Cleo Laine and Sir John Dankworth CBE.
"John Turville’s adventurousness with harmony and the always lyrical yet narratively swerving designs of his improvisations often recall UK piano giant John Taylor's playing” – John Fordham, The Guardian.
“Bobby Wellins pushes his harmonic explorations into unexpected twists and turns, but never losing touch with the core melodic material of the tune. He constructs his solos from phrase to phrase with a lucid, highly organic feel, employing a clean, sharp-edged articulation and a richly expressive tone” – Kenny Mattheison.
Brigitte Beraha (voice), John Turville (piano) & Bobby Wellins (tenor saxophone).
