"Her crisply, energetically accurate drumming drives each track forward with irresistible momentum."

Eddie Myer - JazzWise Magazine

In 2020 the trio’s debut album ‘Northern Perspective’ received rave reviews and radio plays across the UK and beyond. It was dubbed ‘Exceptional British Jazz’ by Chris Philips of JazzFM and ‘An album I come back to time and again.’ In 2022 they released ‘Live at the 2021 Newcastle Jazz Festival’. This featured a notable performance of Mingus’ ‘Goodbye Pork Pie Hat’. In 2023 their 2nd studio album ‘On Pink Lane’ received considerable recognition nation-wide. ‘Finn’s own playing is crisp, accurate and propulsive, hard driving yet full of nuance and detail. Keeble is consistently imaginative and inventive within the confines of the saxophone trio format and distinguishes himself as a fluent tenor soloist with a strong melodic sense. Grainger is impressive as the group’s anchor but also seizes the moment with a number of excellent bass solos. It all makes for a thoroughly satisfying album and one that represents a considerable step forward from the trio’s two previous (very good) offerings.’ _ The Jazz Mann. They now present ‘Stotties for Three’, an album funded by the Ronnie Scott’s Charitable Foundation. The album delves further into Abbie’s northern roots and features more contemporary, original compositions.

Abbie studied Jazz drums under Sebastiaan De Krom at Leeds Conservatoire, gaining a 1st Class Degree with honours. She then received a Master’s degree from Trinity Laban, studying with Gene Calderazzo and Asaf Sirkis. Abbie also performed with various NYJO bands during this time as well as others.

As well as the trio, Abbie also runs her hardbop group the Finntet. She also performs with Harry Keeble, Alice Grace, Stu Collingwood, Dean Stockdale and more. She is a regular drummer for artists visiting the area including Vasilis Xenopoulos, Andrea Vicari and Simon Spillett. She recently performed at Jazz Café Posk as part of the Women in Jazz Media gig ‘Maxine Gordon’s Sophisticated Giants’ alongside Tony Kofi, Emma Rawicz and more, celebrating Maxine’s extensive work and the music of her late husband Dexter Gordon.

Alongside her work as a jazz drummer, Abbie performed live on stage in the Jamie Lloyd Company production of ‘Pinter Four: Moonlight/Night School’ as part of the prestigious Pinter at the Pinter season on London’s West End. “Abbie Finn's impeccable drumming is vivifying” - Marissa Khaos_TheUpComing. She also took up the role of on-stage drummer on the Kenny Wax Production of ‘Fantastically Great Women Who Changed The World’, the debut UK tour.
