Russian music possesses a unique emotional intensity, and Sergei Rachmaninov captured this in song like no other composer. Julia Sitkovetsky (“outstanding” - The Observer) will make her debut recording on Hyperion this month with a disc of Rachmaninov songs. She is joined by prize-winning mezzo-soprano Martha McLorinan: Martha has been acclaimed for her “forthright, radiant, powerful and intense” performances by The Guardian and The Times. Both are accompanied by prize-winning accompanist William Vann (“William Vann is the most sensitive of pianists.” - Fanfare).
