PizzaExpress Live (Holborn)

Following the success of their last show at PizzaExpress, Cong-Fusion are back to perform their most recent release ‘Lost In The Dark’ featuring special guest Gina Sedman. Their new single aims at promoting more understanding about mental health issues which as someone who suffers from psychosis, bandleader Ryan McCaffrey is keen to raise awareness about. Cong-Fusion is a seven piece band featuring the best musicians performing a mixture of instrumentals. The lineup is completed by MC E-Mix from Soul II Soul.

Cong-Fusion have been established since 2006 when Ryan McCaffrey who studied at Birmingham Conservatoire began writing tunes for an 8 piece band featuring a three piece horn section and rhythm section including congas. They have released an album in 2022 called ‘The World As We Know’ It addressing the effects of climate change and several singles on the theme of bullying, alcoholism and mental health featuring MC E-Mix from Soul II Soul and Hayley Tabor. They have performed at London Jazz East Festival, Rye International Jazz & Blues Festival and Cambridge Jazz Festival. They have also performed at PizzaExpress Live in Dean Street and appeared on BBC Introducing, London Live TV and the front cover of The Indie Post Magazine. The title tune from their debut album was also played on Jazz FM by Ian Shaw on the Ronnie Scotts Jazz Show. Expect the sounds of Horace Silver, Lalo Schifrin and Jamiroquai which are Ryan McCaffrey’s primary influences.
