Freddie Gavita

Clifford Brown, so sadly snatched away in his mid 20’s, was one of the major forces in trumpet creativity standing alongside Dizzy Gillespie and Miles Davis. Many of his original compositions are now established jazz standards and his melodic creativity is still a standard to which many aspire. Freddie Gavita, one of the UK’s youngest band leaders and winner of the British Jazz Awards Best Trumpet 2017, not only captures the creativity of Clifford Brown’s music but also tells the musical story in an imaginative way that brings Brown “back to life”.
