Leo Richardson is widely recognised as one of London’s leading tenor saxophonists, best known for his honest, straight-ahead, contemporary hard-bop style. His influences include John Coltrane, Joe Henderson, Dexter Gordon, Horace Silver and Art Blakey. In June 2019, he will join Ian Shaw, Elda Trio, Empirical, Trish Clowes, Kansas Smitty’s House Band, Nubya Garcia, Kit Downes, Enemy Trio and Christine Tobin in representing the best of British jazz at the CGI Rochester International Jazz Festival – one USA’s most important jazz festivals. The Made in the UK concert series has taken hundreds of artists to USA and Canada since its founding by John Ellson in 2008. Expect a celebratory night of high quality jazz with a few surprises.
Leo's 2017 album -  ‘The Chase’ (Ubuntu Music), earned some exceptional reviews, including the first ever 5-star review for a debut album by the Observer, and it was selected by The Times as one of the top ten jazz albums of 2017. ‘Move’, Leo’s next Quartet album, is due for release in Summer 2019.

“I can’t remember hearing a more impressive debut.”

Dave Gelly, The Observer
