His ongoing significance is evident in the superb album of duets which he recorded with the great pianist John Taylor. Tonight’s trio performance features new music from Fairhurst’s upcoming album, which will be recorded this spring. The group features the propulsive bass work of Dave Whitford and brilliant drummer Tim Giles. Their music combines both cerebral and lyrical improvisation full of emotion with high-energy grooves.

"Award winning pianist Richard Fairhurst, is a powerful keyboard virtuoso capable of both meditation and funkiness, but he is as sophisticated a composer as he is a player. He is one of the UK’s most inventive pianists"
