The 52s are delighted to announce a one of show at the iconic PizzaExpress Live restaurant in Chelsea on the 7th March 2024. This will be a chance to enjoy a unique and intimate evening hosted by the London based musical collective. The 52s was founded by Oli Dinwoodie and Vex Nagendran began life in a student bedroom in 2015. A collective of musicians and friends has developed that blend of irresistibly groovy R&B dripping in soul with flavours of traditional Sri Lankan music. Drawing influences from the London Jazz scene as well as soul giants from Nina Simone to Lianne La Havas, 52s performances have becoming notoriously fun and passionate in equal measure. The band have built up a loyal following while conquering venues across London including the iconic Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, Brixton Blues Kitchen, Notting Hill Arts Club as well as regularly performing with Sofar Sounds.
When not performing many members of the collective are busy working across the NHS and social services. Alongside making music the band are also involved in advocating for vulnerable members of their communities and released the single ‘Heroine’ in 2021 in collaboration with Women’s Aid and ‘The Guilty Feminist’ podcast to support victims of domestic violence and highlight women’s rights during the Covid-19 Pandemic.
Having started the year in 5db studios in West London, 2024 is set to be a mammoth year for The 52s with new music on the horizon and exciting shows yet to be announced. This will be a unique opportunity to enjoy an intimate set from the band whilst tucking into a delicious pizza and a chance to hear some brand new material for the very first time.
