“Trumpeter Alexandra Ridout was an outstanding winner of the BBC Young Musician Jazz Award of 2016 and just keeps on growing as an artist.”

JazzWise

The Alexandra Ridout Trio is a relatively new project which is collaborative in nature. “We all have similar avenues of influence in the music we like and write, whilst each having our own unique input. The sound of trumpet in the drumless trio is fairly rare and we have worked on making a trio sound that resonates with us. The trumpet can be so versatile and this trio explores a lot of that. We play a mix of original music written specifically for this trio sound as well as some of our favourite music that we play in our own way.”

Trumpeter, composer and band leader Alexandra Ridout has had her music played on various Radio 3 show’s, Jazz FM and across Europe and the USA.

Alexandra is a past member of NYJO and alongside running ‘The Alexandra Ridout Quintet’ has played with many other musicians such as Clark Tracey’s Hexad and Quintet, Clare Teal’s mini Big Band, Guy Barkers Big Band (including their acclaimed Christmas show at the Royal Albert Hall), Yazz Ahmed’s Polyhymnia, Calum Gourlay Big band. She performed twice at the 2018 Proms – as a featured guest for ‘40 years of The BBC Young Musician’ and with NYJO. In November 2018
Alexandra features on many albums, the most recent being Paul Booth’s ‘44’ “it’s the young in years but rich in delivery Alexandra Ridout who steals the show” (Jazzwise)? and Zoe Rahman’s yet to be released next album.

She released her debut EP ‘Remote Duets’ in 2020.

Alexandra won The British Jazz Awards ‘Rising Star’ category, in 2020 was a Parliamentary Jazz Awards nominee and is currently studying in New York.
