“Mark Jennett is a singer who understands and immerses himself in the stories the songs are telling."

Bacharach’s songs are both beautiful and incredibly sophisticated which makes them challenging and inspiring for singers and instrumentalists alike.  Add to that the extraordinary storytelling abilities of his greatest lyricist, Hal David, and you have something as close to perfection as we are ever likely to hear in popular music.

Alongside some of their greatest songs, tonight’s gig will feature tunes by Bacharach’s contemporaries and earlier composers who influenced his style.

Jennett is known for his ability to combine technical skill with heartfelt interpretation of a lyric.  Check out the video of Mark and pianist Chris Lee performing their take on the Bacharach and David classic ‘Do You Know The Way To San Jose’.

“A clear yet soulful voice, a refreshingly unfussy style and a knack for telling a story in his songs.” – The Scotsman

“Refreshingly original in his treatment of the great American songbook, Jennett improvises in a manner that brings to mind Mark Murphy” - Jazz Rag.
